Francesca Amfitheatrof to join Louis Vuitton as artistic director of jewellery and watches

She was the shining star of Tiffany & Co’s design department, responsible for making the heritage jewellery brand cool with a new generation of consumers, and when she jumped ship there was much speculation as to where she would land. Now, all has been revealed. The designer, who studied in London and was in step with the Young British Artists crowd, has taken up residence on Place Vendôme in Paris at Louis Vuitton.

Net-a-Porter launches fine jewellery & watches online emporium

The fine jewellery offer at Net-a-Porter has been growing over the past few years, with brands clamouring to host exclusive launches with the original luxury e-tailer. In a bid to prioritise sales from luxury brands like Cartier, Boucheron, Repossi and Pomellato, a new dedicated section of the site has been developed to give shoppers a space to learn about jewels and gems as they buy.

Couture London provides platform for luxury jewellery brands to meet influential press and buyers

A new buying event has affixed itself to the jewellery calendar, Couture London. This annual showcase of luxury jewellery is organised by Facets PR and will take place at a showroom on Old Bond Street in June. This year’s line up of brands, which will use the showcase to meet with retail buyers, press and VIP customers, includes Marco Bicego, Aenea Jewellery, Satta Matturi Fine Jewellery and Savage and Rose.

A veritable jewellery window-shopping dream, online portal JewelStreet has built up a huge digital offering of jewellers with wares for sale. The site claims to have achieved rapid expansion in the past few months, and now lists 20,000 jewels for sale from 570 brands operating out of 48 countries. The announcement of these stats come at a time when the company is seeking additional funding.
