COURSE OVERVIEW

Acquire intermediate-level skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, allowing you to create sophisticated and professional rendered jewellery designs. Intended for students who have already mastered the basic Adobe techniques covered in our Adobe Essentials for 2D Jewellery Design: Beginner course or with equivalent knowledge, this intermediate programme is ideal for working or aspiring jewellers who want to further develop their design skills with the software.

The first part of the course covers essential Photoshop controls, Photoshop layers and masking techniques, digital painting techniques and skills for cleaning up scanned hand drawings in Photoshop. The second part addresses advanced Photoshop and Illustrator skills, including advanced vector shading with gradient meshes, techniques for isometric drawing and perspective controls in Illustrator.

This Adobe Illustrator course is available both online and in person. Learning via BAJ’s innovative virtual classroom allows students to participate in live tutoring sessions in small groups, meaning that you can benefit from personalised feedback in real time from our world-class teaching staff.

By the end of the programme, you will have an effective Adobe Illustrator workflow, enabling you to take your scanned jewellery drawings and transform them into high-quality hand-rendered jewellery images.

  • Essential Photoshop controls
  • Control of photoshop colouring and image repair
  • Photoshop layers and masking techniques
  • Digital painting techniques (going from Illustrator to Photoshop)
  • Cleaning up scanned hand drawings in Photoshop

 

Part 2

  • Importing Illustrator designs into Photoshop with Smart Objects
  • Adding texture to Illustrator drawings with clipping masks
  • Advanced vector shading with Gradient Meshes
  • Converting photos to vector lines with Live Trace
  • Importing and tracing hand drawings in Illustrator
  • Importing and size calibration of photos in Illustrator
  • Techniques for isometric drawing in Illustrator
  • Perspective controls in Illustrator
