Jewellery Making – (Limited spaces available)

Design, Make, Sell: BAJ’s subsidised programme in London in jewellery design and manufacturing.

Gain the skills required to go into a career in the jewellery industry on this free  programme.

Our Design, Make, Sell programme is suitable for those who have an interest in jewellery and would like to progress onto further study or into employment in the jewellery industry. On this programme you will gain knowledge and basic skills in jewellery manufacturing and 2D design and skills required for the workplace. This will include developing problem solving skills, team leading, entrepreneurship, and gaining confidence in your communication skills.

The course will give you an introduction to the process of designing and making jewellery, along with the opportunity to learn and develop technical skills to create your own unique piece.  Additionally, you will receive a thorough introduction to entrepreneurial and employability skills, bolstered by a primer into jewellery retail knowledge and customer service.

Workshop sessions start with basic piercing and filing exercises in metal, exploring ways of shaping metal, an introduction to texturing metal and a chance to try your hand at basic soldering. Alongside this, design sessions encourage you to experiment with different materials to generate design ideas and get the creative juices flowing. You will explore how to design items of jewellery that make use of your new workshop skills, and will produce designs for a bespoke jewellery collection. The course culminates in the production of a piece of jewellery from these designs, which is accompanied by guidance on how to market and promote yourself as a jewellery entrepreneur.

You will have the opportunity to progress onto further study within other BAJ Diploma courses.
