The Pearson BTEC HND Diploma in Business is a two-year programme of specialist work related study that helps build essential practical skills, knowledge and understanding, alongside personal and professional proficiency. The programme is an ideal choice for students seeking a cost-effective and relevant route to a degree or those going straight into employment following successful completion of HND.
You must be over 18 years of age.
Level 3 qualification (60 credits or above, preferably Business, or equivalent)
English language assessment commensurate to IELTS 5.5. (PTE 51, Duolingo 85 and above, GCSE A*-C (4 or above), Functional Skills Level 2 or B2 CEFR – (The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Mature applicants 21+ without formal qualifications require 2 or more years work experience, CV, employer reference, personal statement, English language assessment commensurate to IELTS 5.5. (PTE 51, Duolingo 85 and above, GCSE A*-C (4 or above), Functional Skills Level 2 or B2 CEFR)
There will also be a one-to-one interview session to understand students’ motivations to learn.

The Pearson BTEC HND Diploma is designed to provide a specialist vocational programme. This programme provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the business sector and is nationally recognised by employers, allowing direct progression into employment.

Student Services and Administration provide a range of support, information, and specialist services to enhance your student experience.
Academic Development Tutors support students in developing the skills they need to be more confident in their studies. They work with a range of Academy programmes to help students in areas such as academic writing, time management, use of feedback, and working in groups.
Student Welfare and Support Officer can advise on Academy Policies and Procedures, any concerns, emotional or personal difficulties and provide information on external support services.
Delivery & Structure
The methods used across this course are varied to enable access to the curriculum for all students. Usual delivery methods include lectures, classroom discussions, case studies, group work and presentations. Each unit is assigned a national level indicator of 4 or 5, indicating the relative intellectual demand, complexity and depth of study, and learner autonomy. At Level 5 the emphasis is on application and evaluation of contrasting ideas, principles, theories and practices, greater specialisation in the field of study, and an increasing independence in systematic enquiry and analysis.
Assessment & Feedback
Assessment is both summative and formative. Primarily, summative assessment is intended to identify what has been learned (assessment of learning) and therefore the assessed mark counts towards the module grade awarded.
Formative assessment is intended to help students to learn (assessment for learning) and provides opportunities for students to identify their strengths and weaknesses, focus on areas they need to work and improve, and identify how to achieve improvements. Formative assessments will take place at several intervals during the course. Feedback, both formal and informal, is maximised throughout the programme and may take the form of individual tutorials, presentations, essays, shows and degree exhibits, portfolios, and module assessments. Students are given regular feedback/feed-forward through interaction in the studios in the development of projects, tutorials, group crits, and practice presentations.
The programme also contains a capstone project (JA6001) which is designed to be a culminating educational experience for students. It aims to summarise and synthesise all or part of a student’s academic career at the university.
