Learn to identify and understand gemstones on our Gemmology for Beginners short course. Taking place over two days, this programme will provide you with a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of gemmology: the science of gemstones.

Learn how to set stones in jewellery, gaining fundamental knowledge about a wide range of setting processes and styles. Whether you’re a student enrolled in a jewellery-related course or a professional already working in the jewellery industry and looking to expand your repertoire, this three-day short course offers a thorough introduction to the stone setting skills you need to make dazzling jewellery pieces.

Learn to use complex stone settings in your jewellery designs, expanding both your skillset and creative horizons. Intended for jewellers and jewellery students with some setting experience, particularly for those who have completed our Stone Setting Techniques: Beginner programme, our intermediate stone setting course will allow you to explore more intricate setting techniques.

Next start dates: 14 – 21 August 2023

This five-day wax carving for jewellery course will cover all the basic techniques required to produce beautifully hand-carved pieces of jewellery in wax.

In this three-day ring making workshop you will explore and experiment with a range of ring making techniques and complete 3 finished rings in sterling silver: a textured ring, a ring with a cabochon stone, and a spinner ring.

Next start dates: 14 – 16 August 2023

Learn how to draw professional 2D jewellery designs that will allow you to visualise your jewellery pieces with our short course Orthographic Drawing. By drawing with precision and skill, you will be able to accurately envision your work to develop each piece’s design features, enable you to create a prototype, and more accurately cost the design.

The British Academy of Jewellery offers a wide selection of hands-on jewellery design, CAD, manufacturing and gemmology courses created to provide an intensive learning experience, spread normally between 1 to 14 days.

We also offer bespoke CAD programmes where our tutors can design and deliver courses tailored to your needs.
