Munich Jewellery Week, the annual, week-long celebration of contemporary jewellery and object, recently wrapped up for 2017. As always, it was filled with an assortment of eye-opening, thought-provoking, and idea challenging events and exhibitions. Our tutor, Michael Wong, shares his reflections from this year’s edition.

Enamelling – an ancient technique treasured by the modern jewellers

Colourful, glittering and smooth – in the hands of an artist, enamel is capable of the most unpredictable transformations. Works of enamel can be compared to the works of the impressionists; such is the extent to which an auteur can both lyrically and subtly communicate their temperament.
