Upon completing this intermediate programme, you may wish to consider exploring other jewellery making skills through another BAJ short course. You could also enrol in a longer-term programme, such as one of BAJ’s Diplomas.

What you will learn

Stone setting is an indispensable ability for learners looking to develop a comprehensive jewellery-making skill set. The techniques covered by our intermediate-level course will add to your existing skills and permit you to create more complex pieces featuring beautifully seamless settings.

During this course in setting, you will be introduced to a range of stone-setting techniques and skills. Building on basic setting skills, during the course we will cover:

  • Tool making
  • Rub over setting Marquise stones
  • Flush setting shaped stones square princess cut and Marquise cut
  • Grain setting
  • Star setting
  • Pave
