a ring is a ring is a ring showcases the work of a year-long collaboration between students of three leading European Jewellery Schools: Alchimia: Contemporary Jewellery School, Florence, Italy, Hochschule Trier, Idar Oberstein, Germany and British Academy of Jewellery, London & Birmingham, UK. In this series, we interview the students who participated in the project.

Can you tell us a little more about the piece you have on display in the show?
My ring on show at the exhibition ‘a ring is a ring is a ring’, is inspired by a fan vaulted ceiling, made with wax carving, cellet making and stone setting.
So the show is titled A RING is A RING is A RING, can you tell us what a ring is to you?
For me, a ring is a body adornment.


This was a collaborative project and included 3 other schools, what was the experience like and what have you learned from it?
Through this collaboration with three difference schools, I have learnt different types of jewellery styles, which is very beneficial for me personally.
What is your background?
Hi, I would like to introduce myself, I am Praveen. I am an Italian born, half Srilankan and half Portuguese.


Why have you become a jeweller?
The reason why I want to be a jeweller is because of I have great passion for making jewellery pieces.
What are your plans for the future?
My future plans are hone my skills further.
