Bekkie’s journey in jewellery began with a passion for fine art and sculpture, nurtured by her early skill in stained glass making, which inspired her exploration into kiln-formed glass and jewellery design. With over 24 years of experience, Bekkie brings extensive expertise to her roles at The British Academy of Jewellery (BAJ) and other distinguished London institutions where she has taught.
Her skills span a diverse range of jewellery techniques, including fold forming, etching, wax carving, casting, kiln-formed glass, and enamelling. Bekkie’s dedication to craftsmanship and creativity is evident in her bespoke, one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces, which highlight her versatility as both an artist and artisan.
Bekkie co-authored “Colour and Textures in Jewellery” with Crowood Press, a notable publication in the industry. Her designs have been featured in renowned publications such as “Designing and Making Glass Jewellery” by Mirka Janeckova and “Glass Jewellery” by Yvonne Coffey. Continually innovating, she explores new techniques and materials, maintaining her cutting-edge approach to jewellery design.
In her roles as a lecturer in Higher Education (HE) and Manufacturer Lead in Further Education (FE) at BAJ, Bekkie designs courses that integrate practical skills with artistic expression. Her teaching philosophy focuses on nurturing creativity and advancing skill development among her students. Beyond teaching, Bekkie remains actively engaged in her own artistic practice, crafting bespoke jewellery pieces that reflect her enduring passion and expertise.
