The British Academy of Jewellery’s Birmingham campus is located in the heart of the city’s Jewellery Quarter, a unique industry hub steeped in history.
Housed at the centre of local industry in the New Birmingham Assay Office, BAJ Birmingham offers both long-form diploma programmes and short courses.
When you come to study with us in Birmingham, you’ll be learning from experienced tutors in professional-level facilities, based in a city that boasts the UK’s largest student population outside of London.
The surrounding area is also home to more than 100 retailers, stone and bullion dealers, jewellery manufacturers, workshops and museums.
In this unique location, you will be able to find all of your jewellery manufacturing suppliers just a stone’s throw from BAJ and will also have the opportunity to engage with the local jewellery community through manufacturing tours

Manufacturing equipment
The Academy has high-quality jewellery manufacturing equipment, and each bench is equipped with individual soldering and drilling equipment.
During your time with us, you will have access to our workshops, which are equipped with benches, as well as professional-level enamelling, engraving and stone setting equipment.

Digital and on-site resources
BAJ’s Birmingham campus boasts computers installed with the latest software, including Matrix, Rhino, Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office.Â
A range of jewellery-related books are also available for students to reference in order to support their design and manufacturing studies.

Study Areas
Our light and airy workshop offers both individual bench spaces and a communal area for design. This set-up is further complemented by a designated computer and design room in which students can perfect their CAD skills.Â
