You’ll also explore how to integrate your illustrations into your branding, helping you present your jewellery with confidence and clarity.

Course Description

Learn essential wax carving skills to create intricate jewellery models ready for casting in just three days.
Learn to carve wax models with which you can create stunning jewellery pieces. Ideal for beginner and intermediate-level jewellers looking to expand their skill set, our three-day wax carving course will introduce you to a wide range of different wax carving techniques that you will use to make a series of finished models that can be taken to cast in a metal of your choice.

Entry requirements

No previous experience is required, this course is suitable for beginners.

What You Will Learn

  • Create a portfolio of jewellery designs using graphite pencils, coloured pencils, gouache, and watercolour on Canson paper.
  • Illustrate opaque and translucent gemstones, including cabochons, brilliant-cut, and faceted stones.
  • Render different coloured metals, understanding how to achieve volume, textures, and finishes.
  • Translate light and shadow on metals and gemstones through hue, tone, highlights, and shadows.
  • Build a step-by-step portfolio demonstrating techniques for gemstones, metal sheets and wires, and both polished and matt finishes.
