Course description

With a rich history stretching back centuries, enamelling is a wonderful way of incorporating dazzling colour into jewellery. Our Enamelling Techniques: Beginner course is taught in our professional-quality bench workshops, where you will have access to all the enamelling equipment you need to start exploring this fascinating craft. Sessions feature small groups of learners and are led by our expert tutors, ensuring you get individual support and personalised feedback.

What you will learn

During this short beginners’ course in vitreous enamelling, you will be introduced to a selection of simple enamelling techniques to enable you to make basic enamelled jewellery or introduce enamelled colour into your work. You will learn about vitreous enamels and how they are applied to metal. You will learn what metals are suitable for enamelling and how to fire and finish them. You will experiment with a range of simple techniques to build a range of enamel samples.

Progression

Upon completing our enamelling course, learners could further develop their jewellery-making skill set with one of our other short courses. They might also consider enrolling in a longer-term programme, such as the BAJ Diploma in Jewellery Fundamentals.
