British Academy of Jewellery and Theo Fennell reveal winners of collaborative Live Project

The British Academy of Jewellery is delighted to announce the winners of its Circle of Life Live Project with Theo Fennell. This year, a group of the academy’s Jewellery Design and Manufacturing Diploma students worked on harnessing the power of storytelling through jewellery, guided by iconic London-based jeweller Theo Fennell. The competition’s winners were revealed at an event hosted by the British Academy of Jewellery with Theo Fennell on 21st July, 2021.

Selected as the overall winner of the competition for his evocative and skillfully executed ring, Blaise Zunter will have the opportunity for his work to be worn and photographed on a very special Theo Fennell customer. Students Georgi Tanev and Stacey Price were also highly commended for their work.

Due to the high quality of the work, Theo Fennell chose a total of eight students to have the honour of seeing their pieces shown at Theo Fennell’s premises in Chelsea, where they can be sold, if the designers so wish. Along with the winner and runners up, students Edward Haire, Anara Pearce, Inti Yeung, Mollie Horrox, and Duke Birt were also chosen for the showcase.

The pieces made by our students as part of the Circle of Life Live Project will be on display as part of our Final Show 2022 exhibition which will be open to the public from July 29 to 30 at The Koppel Project on 125 New Bond Street, London.

“It’s been wonderful to see the creativity and skill of the British Academy of Jewellery’s students reflected in these beautiful, high-quality pieces. Everybody interpreted the brief in different and imaginative ways which resulted in a fabulous variety of unique artistic visions. Choosing only three winners has been very challenging,” said Theo Fennell.

“I am delighted that our students had an opportunity to work with such a renowned figure of the jewellery industry, it is such partnerships that have enabled us to shape the learning vision of British Academy of Jewellery by creating a curriculum that produces students who are a credit to any workforce.” said Sharjeel Nawaz, Principal at the British Academy of Jewellery.

Circle of Life is the latest entry in the British Academy of Jewellery’s exciting Live Project series, which sees our students work on real-life industry briefs set by some of the country’s most prestigious jewellery brands. Previous Live Project partners have included Alex Monroe and Alighieri. To find out more about our Diploma, click here.
