Overview
Get a firm understanding of the business and marketing skills that matter most to employers.
The course will cover the fundamentals of the business ecosystem and the key current and future aspects of developing marketing solutions in business. This area includes a focus on the different components of marketing, the purpose of marketing in a business context and how marketing can contribute to organisational success. It will also focus on the importance of data in making marketing decisions and the impact of digital technology on marketing. You will gain a strong foundation in all aspects of business with an opportunity to further develop your skills in marketing. Your broad background in business and management skills will prepare you for a range of graduate roles and sectors. A focus on marketing will give you an edge in the job market if you develop an interest in working in this field.

Entry requirements
- 240 credits from a Higher National Diploma (HND), or
- A Foundation Degree (FdA/FdSc), or
- Equivalent international qualification in a relevant subject, or
- 240 Credits from Year 1 and 3 of an undergraduate degree (BA/BSc) in a relevant subject at a different institution.
English language requirements:
- IELTS: 6.0 Overall, with no element below 5.5.

Fees & funding
Home (UK students) £9,000 per academic year.
The tuition fee you pay depends on whether you are assessed as a ‘Home’ (UK), ‘Islands’ or ‘International’ student.
Tuition fees may be subject to annual increases but will not increase by more than the fee caps as prescribed by the Office for Students or such other replacing body. Eligible students can apply to the Government for a tuition loan, which is paid directly to the University. Depending on the programme of study, there may be extra costs that are not covered by tuition fees which students will need to consider when planning their studies. Tuition fees cover the cost of your teaching, assessment and operating University facilities such as the library, access to shared IT equipment and other support services. Accommodation and living costs are not included in our fees.
Where a course has additional expenses, we make every effort to highlight them.
Most of your readings will be available through the library at no extra cost to you. Our libraries are a valuable resource with a range of books and journals as well as IT equipment. You may prefer to buy your own copy of key textbooks – these can cost between £50 and £250 per year.

30 credit hours
This Unit covers the concepts, theories and techniques on which strategic management is based and explores their application in a wide range of international business and other settings.
It aims to expand students’ perspective on wider issues and scenarios, identifying opportunities and growth over medium and long terms. You will develop your ability to communicate and present your commercial awareness across the board.

This Unit addresses complexity and sense-making techniques to identify changes in the environment. It includes theoretical and practical perspectives of effective and responsible leadership in contemporary complex and changing organisational contexts. You will critically evaluate concepts of leadership alongside current practices of leading change in contemporary organisations faced with complex and uncertain environments.
You will critically reflect on your own leadership capacity and skills in initiating and leading change in different contexts, and consider your own progress and career journey in the context of these environments and leadership styles.
30 credit hours
Social media is an essential part of the marketing communications toolkit for any business, from start-ups to global conglomerates. With over 4.5 billion people worldwide using social media (Kingsnorth, 2022), not being part of the conversation with your consumers is unthinkable. This module will equip you with knowledge of a broad range of strategies and tools, as well as the skills to plan and implement successful communication campaigns using social media.
You will build an understanding of the importance of integration of social media strategies with other elements of the marketing mix in order to deliver coherent experiences for customers in order to maximise the business impact of sales, marketing, and branding campaigns.
You will also develop knowledge of, and skills in, analysing social media interactions to inform strategic and tactical decision-making.

This Unit supports with a dedicated opportunity to develop your Future Skills Graduate Attributes. You will begin by evaluating your current skills profile and identifying areas for development aligned with your future goals, such as self-employment/freelancing, starting your own business, higher level study, and other professional Graduate level opportunities.
With the support of a career coach and external mentors, you will engage in a tailored selection of short courses, enrichment activities and experiential learning options such as micro-placements. These experiences will enhance your personal and professional skills, culminating in a reflective portfolio or digital presentation that outlines your growth and next steps. This module meets the requirements of the Future Skills Apply at Level 6.
Optional modules

This Unit will enable you to understand specific techniques and best practices in digital marketing communications and engagement. You will gain hands-on experience of the latest developments in digital marketing communications and business tools and technology, such as search engine marketing, mobile marketing, social media, big data and analytics.
You will combine previously learned theoretical perspectives and practical applications and apply these to contemporary or live digital marketing challenges, providing creative responses.
Delivery & Structure
Our programme combines traditional classroom-based learning with online education, offering flexibility for students to engage with course materials at their own pace. Whether you prefer face-to-face interactions or virtual collaboration, our approach caters to diverse learning preferences.
2 days per week will involve timetabled activities such as lectures, seminars, workshops, and group discussions. These sessions are designed to deepen your understanding of key concepts, promote critical thinking, and foster collaboration with peers and faculty.
1 day a week will be for guided independent study. Here, you’ll have the freedom to explore course materials, conduct research, complete assignments, and develop entrepreneurial skills. Our faculty and support staff will provide guidance and feedback to support your progress.
When not attending timetabled sessions, you will be expected to continue learning independently through self-study. This typically will involve reading journal articles and books, working on individual and group projects, undertaking coursework assignments, and preparing and giving presentations. Your independent learning is supported by a range of excellent facilities including online resources, the library and CANVAS, the online virtual learning platform.
Blended learning requires access to a laptop or desktop computer, which can cost from £100 to £3,000 depending on your course requirements. You also need to use word processing software such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.
