BAJ’s Jewellery Retail Essentials course is the perfect course for jewellery retail professionals and for those interested in pursuing a career in the jewellery retail industry. The course will give an introduction to the materials and techniques that are used in the production of fine jewellery as well as the correct terms used to discuss jewellery pieces with potential customers. This type of skillset and knowledge is crucial for anyone wishing to engage customers and clients, and be a trusted source in guiding the customer to find their perfect piece.
You will gain an introduction to jewellery history, the UK and global jewellery markets and the legislation around them. Topics included in the course are; the domestic and international jewellery markets, fine jewellery production, gemmology, jewellery components, metallurgy, precious metals, hallmarking, and proper jewellery care.
Your course will take place online, one day per week across a three week period. The three days of delivery will be from 10am- 5pm. The course will involve online conferences and tutorials with your tutor, as well as online group discussions and activities; all delivered via BAJ’s virtual learning environment, Canvas. Upon enrolment to the course you will receive an invitation and log in details to Canvas, as well as a timetable. Course resources will be housed on Canvas.
The course is suitable for absolute beginners or those with more experience wishing to refresh and consolidate their knowledge.
Learners will receive a British Academy of Jewellery Certificate upon completion of the course.
