Jewellery Bench Skills: Ring Making is a one-day ring manufacturing course for beginner jewellers interested in learning how to make rings with a variety of different texturing techniques. The course is taught in small groups in the British Academy of Jewellery’s professional workshops, meaning that you can take advantage of our world-class jewellery-making facilities and benefit from personalised feedback from our experienced tutor, who will be there to guide you every step of the way.
No previous experience is required. This course is suitable for beginner jewellers who have an interest in making rings and learning about texturing techniques.
All materials, tools and safety equipment are provided for this course.
A minimum age of 18 is required for BAJ short courses.

In this one-day ring-making workshop you will explore and experiment with a range of ring-making techniques and will have the opportunity to create a ring using base metals but also a ring in sterling silver.
Students will be taught the basic bench and health and safety skills needed. They will practice annealing, texturing, shaping, soldering, sanding and polishing. They will be taught how to successfully create a ring to size. Base metal will be provided to ensure all participants can practice before being given sterling silver to create one textured ring.
Students can consider progression onto one of BAJ’s other short courses in CAD or jewellery manufacturing and can find out more from our admissions team about applying for our jewellery diploma programme.
