Miranda

Sharpe

Apprenticeship Coordinator and Birmingham Centre lead

Biography

Miranda’s passion for jewellery design and manufacture began whilst studying for her degree in 3D design at Manchester Metropolitan University. This was followed by a brief period working in the industry and then an MA at the Birmingham School of Jewellery.

Miranda started her jewellery business over 20 years ago and has had the opportunity to exhibit her work both nationally and internationally, including at prestigious events such as the Goldsmiths Fair and the Crafts Council’s Chelsea Crafts Fair and Origin.

Teaching has featured throughout her career, from BA level to community and hobbyist levels, joining BAJ in 2017. Miranda has been a tutor on the diploma courses and currently leads the apprenticeship programme.

“I am passionate about passing on the traditional skills and seeing the next generations go on to flourish in the industry. The apprenticeship is a great opportunity for both business and apprentices to learn and grow together.”

Miranda continues to evolve her personal work, exploring both colour and form with her specialist technique of enamelling. Miranda makes small batch production ranges and one-of-a-kind pieces.
