We’re thrilled to spotlight one of our incredibly talented team members here at BAJ: Rayvenn Shaleigha D’Clark, Associate Lecturer in Critical and Historical Studies.
As a key member of our creative staff, Rayvenn brings a unique blend of artistic vision and academic depth to her role. She teaches on the BA (Hons) Jewellery Design & Production course, where her perspective enriches students’ understanding of the cultural and historical dimensions of design.
Rayvenn Shaleigha D’Clark is a digital sculptor of international acclaim. Her practice seamlessly fuses digital innovation with traditional techniques, creating works that challenge the conventions of race, identity, and visual culture. Rayvenn’s sculptures have placed her alongside global artistic icons such as Tracey Emin, Ai Wei Wei, and Banksy.
In 2024, she unveiled a groundbreaking project called Black Renaissance, a multi-million-pound commission at the Equal Justice Initiative’s Freedom Monument Sculpture Park in Montgomery, Alabama. The monumental installation is a bold exploration of historical memory and cultural reclamation, serving as a landmark moment in her career.
Beyond her artistic production, Rayvenn is a visionary entrepreneur and academic. She founded Sculptural Drawings Ltd., a thriving studio practice which has secured nearly £2 million in funding to support public sculpture initiatives across the UK and US. Her academic influence is equally significant, with contributions to institutions and organisations such as University of the Arts London (UAL), SAE Institute UK, NSEAD, and Runnymede Trust.
Rayvenn was named in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Europe (Art & Culture) list in 2024 and received the ‘Best Component’ award from the Cast Metals Federation (CMF) the same year. Other accolades include the EJI Commission Award, Maddox Award, Paul Hamlyn Foundation Grant, and the Canary Wharf Commission Award.
Her presence at BAJ reflects the calibre of our teaching staff—individuals whose expertise and influence extend far beyond the classroom.
