Exceptional circumstances
- Affect your capacity to finish an assessment.
- Influence your academic performance in an assessment.
- Lead to a failure to meet a coursework deadline for which you didn’t have an extension.
- In such situations, you have the option to request the examination board to assess the impact on your performance. The board will determine the appropriate course of action if any is required.
It’s important to note that the exceptional circumstances process excludes situations where preventive measures could have been implemented beforehand. The evaluation considers the proximity of the circumstance to your assessment. To discuss your case and understand your options please speak to your relevant Student Services advisor or tutor.

Suspend your studies
There may be situations where, for a variety of reasons, you must temporarily halt your studies. A suspension of studies represents a mutual arrangement between you and BAJ, enabling you to temporarily pause your academic pursuits for a specified duration. To discuss your case and understand your options please speak to your relevant Student Services advisor or tutor.

Transfer to a different course or programme
Adjusting to your course and university life can be a journey, if you find that your current course isn’t quite the right fit for you, know that transferring to another course is indeed possible.
Your first step should be to reach out to your course tutor. They’re there to support you and can discuss your options, whether it’s arranging support to help you excel in your current course or outlining the steps needed to transfer to a different one. They’ll guide you through the process and advise you on the next steps to take.
