At BAJ, our HNC Art & Design 3D Design (Jewellery Design & Manufacturing) students took on an exciting challenge: creating a sleek and modern bracelet, as if they were competing in a hypothetical popular jewellery show “All that Shines”. The brief was to showcase their skills and stand out as budding jewellery professionals. With guidance from our experienced tutors, they learned about minimalist designs and different types of bracelet clasps and links.
In hands-on workshops, they mastered making hinges and clasps using basic materials such as metal sheets and wire. They sketched their ideas and created maquettes, got feedback from their peers and tutors, and refined their designs until they were just right. Each student got to choose their favourite techniques, whether it was carving wax, making chains, utilising wire or shaping metal.
Now, as they wrap up their project, we look back on what they’ve learned and take a moment to appreciate their individual pieces of jewellery.
