Course description

On completeion of this course we recommend our Diamond Grading for Beginners and Diamond Grading for Intermediates short courses.

The British Academy of Jewellery also offers a diverse range of short courses, as well as a Jewellery Diploma Programme, which will equip you with all the knowledge and skills you need to design and manufacture jewellery

Entry requirements

Those wishing to take part in this intermediate programme should have a BAJ Certificate of Completion for our Gemmology for Beginners course or equivalent experience.

What you will learn

During this intermediate course you will learn about:

  • Professional equipment for identifying gemstones
  • Calculating the Carat of gemstones
  • Estimating the weight of stones
  • Optically isotropic or optically anisotropic gemstones
