Biography

Caiwen Yong is originally from the island city-state of Singapore, where she graduated from the National University of Singapore, majoring in English Literature. Her initial teacher training took place at the Dyslexia Association of Singapore where she taught as a Specialist Teacher for students with Specific Learning Differences, such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Dyspraxia, and supported the training of Special Needs Officers in primary and secondary schools. She has since further trained at the Maria Montessori Institute in London and the British Dyslexia Association.

 

Caiwen has facilitated neurotypical and neurodiverse students to develop strategies to acquire literacy and numeracy skills for daily life, and to meet entry requirements for accessing further education and employment. She has taught 11-18 year olds in Manchester, and primary and adult learners in primary and vocational settings in London. She is passionate about cognitive development and an advocate for a growth mindset. Caiwen hopes to help students develop confidence in academic skills through real achievements and successful learning experiences.
